Masks, Lockdowns, Vaccines, and COVID-19

Good evening everyone and I hope people are safe today.

I have a scary premonition that we are headed back into masks in the coming weeks. My major concern will be will the State and Local Governments decide to lock down our economy down again.

This could spell disaster for small businesses that have been hanging on by a thread since last March. I implore the Governor, County Executive, and County Council to not lock our state down again.

Vaccines: This is a touchy area for a lot of people. I was convinced that I would not take the vaccine until I had COVID-19. I suspect that I caught the virus on January 6th while I was in a garage with a large group of unmasked police officers waiting to find out if I was going to get deployed to the Capitol during the unrest.

A few days later, I had a low-grade fever a cough, and nothing else. I thought maybe I had a cold. I went out to dinner with some close friends of mine and their young daughter. I informed them that I believed I had a cold. After going to Ocean City Bike Week that previous October, I was convinced that I wasn't going to get the virus.

Well by Wednesday of that following week, I didn't have a fever any longer but I couldn't taste or smell anything. I went and got tested and the obvious result. I also infected my lovely girlfriend (Who you will all get to meet soon enough).

Ten days of quarantine and neither of us murdered each other (more like she didn't murder me) and a couple more weeks later my sense of taste and smell returned. I dodged a huge bullet because I was in a higher risk category because of my unique body type.

I discussed the matter with my better half and we decided that we would get vaccinated even though we had the virus. Better safe than sorry because no one really knew if you could catch the virus twice.

Now, I understand many of the arguments of why you shouldn't get vaccinated. Especially now, where the CDC continues to change their position. That, unfortunately, is how science works in these cases. There are no real answers. The CDC, an agency that I have excoriated in misguided rants from time to time, is trying to make sure we're safe by providing the most up to date data.

Many don't trust what the CDC say right now for (insert reason here). Some believe the Delta Variant is the new 'hoax' to force us back into lockdown and further isolate us.

I want an honest conversation on how this virus came to exist. If it was born in a lab that the CDC or another U.S. Federal Agency funded than it's time that DC Bureaucrats are held responsible for their actions (or inactions).

When did we truly know about this virus and how were we able to manufacture three different vaccines in such an incredibly short time?

These are fair questions that should be asked and answered. Instead, we get to watch Sen. Rand Paul and Dr. Anthony Fauci argue over who doesn't know what they are talking about.

I am not telling you to go out and get vaccinated for COVID. We have a flu shot that I haven't taken in nearly 10 years. I did it for myself, my girlfriend, my father, and most importantly you.
